Much of being a fashion influencer these days hinges on maintaining a signature aesthetic on social media while still being unique and engaging. It is one of the many aspects that makes the digital era both riveting and exciting for me. Exciting, because I get to treat my blog and social like playgrounds, and explore the nuances of Indian fashion as I please. Riveting, because I am constantly reading, staying abreast with industry trends, and trying to better my best.
In doing so, I came across Marietta, GA-based Funky Flair Boutique, founded by Kesha Henderson. Kesha's love affair with fashion began when she was 2, when her mother "put her in a big poofy dress with white lace ankle socks, and black patent leather Mary Janes." Since then, Kesha has been thoroughly invested in fashion, having worked as a sales associate, visual merchandiser, and a buyer. Evidently, Funky Flair Boutique is the culmination of years of passion, knowledge, and awareness - for every woman who wants to make a statement.
...And that perhaps explains why I was so drawn to this fabulously curated boutique, yes? This sublime maxi cascades gorgeously waist-down, and the silhouette is unbelievably figure-flattering even for those on the petite side of life. This was great news for me because maxis make me conscious (silly, I know) It's the fabric, however, that is the real superstar because it totally makes the dress #honoryourcurves (thank God for spandex!). Finally, let's just agree that together with the damask print, this is one jewel box of a dress! To leave it tastefully understated, I limited the accessories to a statement, traditional Maang Tikka (headpiece) from Miraya, ebony bangles, and a blush multi finger ring. Beauty accents, too, were as minimal as an overall gold glow + an emollient soft lilac lip (Velvet Lip Glide in Rose Pink by NARS - highly recommend this one!)
Now that I have the lowdown covered, I wanted to open up a conversation here for those interested - what's your opinion on pairing big, statement headpieces with a dress/ separates aka being EXTRA? ;)

Miraya originated as a concept magazine for a Publishing class, but much of it now exists online and has been adapted for this blog. The core remains intact, and that is to explore the changing landscape of contemporary Indian fashion through the international lens, engaging readers in a creative juxtaposition between tradition and modernity. It is spearheaded by the Founder and Creative Director, Namrata Loka.
